Help with U4 Form - Employment History

I was hoping for insight on my U4 form.

Under employment history I have to account for the past 12 years of jobs and education, etc. I did a spring "private equity" internship -- which was just list building and due diligence at a search fund. While I was there, we were not able to find an acquisition target. The time of my "employment" runs parallel with enrollment in school, so it is not unaccounted for. There is also no payroll record since it was unpaid.

Should I include it on the employment section? Would I count it as "investment related business"?

TIA!

In a similar situation right now, out of curiosity what did your HR end up saying? I was planning on leaving my unpaid internships off as well.
