Most of the heads of the BB/EBs in Toronto are pretty impressive (i.e. GS, MS, Evercore, Greenhill, Lazard, etc.) - mostly previous rainmakers from BB backgrounds. Not sure about Big 5 as you can't really find a lot of information on their MDs

CIBC’s TMT MD, Brent Layton, has been across many banks (Cannacord, National, etc.). Like above, you won’t really hear abt them unless you know them..

Does having MD experience across multiple banks indicate that they are good? On one hand, they could be well sought after, but on the other, it could be that they were let go.

Dave Mckay came from retail banking, and has never worked in Investment banking. He worked in: commercial banking, risk management, and corporate banking.

RBC's head of TMT Alex Graham, is a solid performer who was the head of Euro ECM for Solomon before going to NYC to head another ECM group for Citi. Solid performer for RBC who is generally near the top of the Canadian league tables.
