Houlihan Lokey Valuation

Insight on comp (base/all in) at analyst/associate/VP level, quality of work (monotonous?), culture etc. for portfolio val? Does the comp vary based on location? Is it possible to make an internal move to another department down the line? Thanks!

Comp - All in comp for an analyst would be anywhere from 110-150 depending on bucket and level. Not sure about associate, but I'd imagine an additional 25-50 depending on the same factors.

Type of work - lots to learn in 12-24 months. Declines incredibly fast after that period, imho. You will learn the world of private credit extremely well, but not as good as the Lev Fin bankers. It can be very monotonous. Exit opps are better than big 4, but still way below banking.

Culture - minimal. Revolving door, massive turnover in past 5 months, mainly exits to banking. Group is extremely constrained to perform the year-end work and it will be extremely sweaty. Quarter-end is banking hours, intra-quarter ( a month tops) can be regular 9-5 (or less even) depending on staffing capacity and how much of a hardo you are.

Internal transfers - have seen it happen twice only. Would not bet on this at all.
