It's like boiler room according to someone I know pretty well there. It's not like a typical IB, and the compensation is not anywhere near standards. The internship for business development is basically a sales job. You call companies to offer an analysis of the them, where your team then tears them down with everything negative financially in order to sign them on for advisory.

"bus dev" = boiler room sales, avoid at all costs
internships in corp fin or fas groups are decent though - on par with any other decent lower middle market boutique. this is a small percent of their interns though - REALLY be sure to clarify what you are getting into
