Dude I get that it makes more financial sense to live at home while you're interning if you can...but you'll be getting enough comp to put yourself up in the city, away from your parents. 10 weeks living by yourself in NYC (or whatever city) while working at MS GS JPM...why would you want to live at your house?

Do not live with your parents. Trust me, if I could do it again as a 21-22 y/o and not a saltier former Marine who commuted, I would go into debt to stay in the city.

Is the housing stipend paid out to all SAs no questions asked? For instance, if somebody does not need to relocate and are going to continue living where they always have, do they still get the stipend?
Usually a housing stipend is payed out in the form of a signing bonus. So, yes.
It's a bonus, they just call it a housing stipend for appearance + tax reasons

Most likely yes. I think most BBs specify a $2,000 "relocation" stipend in your offer letter. I don't think they'll ever verify where you're living.
