Houston Housing Recommendations?

Hi, I will be working in the Energy Corridor this upcoming summer post grad and will have a car. Looking at old posts here it looks like Midtown has been popular in the past. Is this still the case? Would you have any recommendations?

Museum district? The small area between Woodland Heights and downtown?

Would love to be able to bike to the city regularly for baseball games and have access to nightlife. I really enjoy walkability. Aiming for one roommate with around a $1,000 budget +/- $200 (I think?). Thank you!

If working in Energy Corridor, quick and easy access to i10 would prob be at the top of my list. That would rule out Montrose, Midtown, Upper Kirby, etc. The traffic in those areas can get pretty bad. I'd probably focus on Rice Military / Washington Ave and south parts of the Heights. Both will offer good access to i10 and there is a lot to do. Most underrated feature of the area is convenient access to Memorial Park, Buffalo Bayou trails, MKT trails, etc.. They're really nice and provide welcome retreat from rest of the city. Walkability will really come down to where exactly your apartment is, but it should be pretty good. Can also easily uber to just about anywhere ITL for ~$10

Top 3 places to  live are as follows:

1. Heights - Good working young crowd with a vibrant bar scene. Most young people are moving into this area and these bars are starting to overtake (probably already have) Washington and Midtown bars

2. Montrose/Upper Kirby - Solid food and bar options and overall cool part of town. I lived here for 3 years and wouldn't have picked anywhere else.

3. Downtown - It should start picking up soon, and if it does there are good food and bar options. The high rises are pretty new Downtown and cheaper than you would get in other cities. Also fun having the Astros in season.

I wouldn't live anywhere close to the energy corridor. i-10 is massive and you will be able to get out there easily from any of the aforementioned areas. Hope this helps.

The Museum district is close enough to Montrose so you get all the same amenities. It's a fun place to be with good accessibility and also quiet. Midtown can be a bit ratchet and super loud. Depends what you are looking for though. If you want a younger wilder party scene, Midtown isn't a bad option. Midtown also has arguably the best Vietnamese food in the country at every corner.

When I worked there I lived above HEB off Washington at the St Andrie and loved it
