How common is bankers to ghost networking calls
I think this is really understandable since bankers can be busy and tasks can be unpredictable but I think I met a few bankers who agreed to call, said they had a really busy week and ask if any other schedule works, and disappeared after I follow up for a one or twice
And this happened not only once lol. I won't blame for them cuz again I understand things surely gets busy all the time but the alum who agreed to connect and originally scheduled the call was the only banker in the team that I wanna get into
-----------
for two specific bankers (one alum, one not) who agreed to call but ghosted, I'm thinking if I still gonna reach out to follow up. I think I followed up like 3 times after they offered to reschedule but turned out nothing. I think 3 follow ups might be too much but I really wanted to get into that group lol. Do you have better suggestions (move on or follow up again? The alum would 99.99% be in the school recruiting team)
There're other cases where bankers offered to reschedule and came back with new time slot two days later. There're some other bankers ghosted me for like 3 months but I'm not that into his group/bank so I didn't continue the convo.
This happens, but not frequently.
This is pretty common––i'd avoid following up more than three times. Have also gotten interviews where even though I have followed up I wasn't gotten back too, but was accelerated bcuz i was added to call sheet
thanks man so you were listed for interview because some other people in the group pulls you (not because of the banker you didn't get back to) ?
sorry, let me clarify:
I had a connect, who after the first call, asked me for my resume (went really well). I followed up multiple times just to check in but I didn’t really get a response but when applications for that group specifically opened up my turnaround for r1 was quick.
To make a point to what you said, I’ve also had instances where other members within the same group pulled thru for me even tho my original connect didn’t get back to my follow-ups (likely busy bcuz it was a sweatshop and they were quite busy). I was suggested, however, by my original connect to talk to others within the group (during intro call) which was what led me to a successfully connection.
Thanks, so is the person or all the person you mentioned your alum?
intro call was with alum; subsequent calls within group were with non-alums
is it at all possible for me to get thru r1 without networking for bb/eb? if not do bankers still care for networking after app opening
You can network after apps open yes. Getting an interview without networking is very, very rare
