Curious to hear how Evercore is doing so well? What worked for them vs other firms that have tried to compete with the GS/MS of the world?
Just looking at their M&A group, they barely have any weak spot - most teams are probably top 3-4 across the street and they constantly manage to land big ticket deals across all sectors. Interesting to see what would be their next leg of growth.

Good execution / management team and picking the right rainmakers. Clearly EVR now is what old Wall Street firms were like in the past (GS/MS 20-30 years ago, Lehman, etc) less S&T activity. Once you're public, you HAVE to grow so sticking to the "EB" mantra of a couple of hundred bankers with M&A advisory focus only is going to get you killed
