How do headhunters work?

So before I get MS and people saying "use the search bar" I think I'm in a bit of a unique situation. I'm in a group with decent deal flow at a MM bank in NYC, but for whatever reason, all the analysts that have left in the past year have gone onto good, but very untraditional exits that probably used their personal networks rather than a headhunter.

I know a lot of headhunters get lists of the new analyst class at banks from the people they've headhunted so how should I proceed in my situation? Reach out to them first? I started a month ago so I'm not really worried that none of them have reached out yet, but what does the headhunter timeline look like for a 1st year?

Would registering only one month into being an analyst look desperate? Don't want to come off like a constant job hopper always looking for a different opportunity

Hey sorry for the dumb question, but what does it even mean to "register," and how would one go about doing so?

Some of the headhunters have a form you can fill out to join their "network" and they may reach out to you if you are a potential fit for a position. That's what my take on it was when i checked in out

If you do on cycle recruiting as a 1st year analyst and get an offer in Dec/Jan, when do you usually start at the PE firm? Right away or is it like a banking where the recruiting is over a year in advance?
