How do I valuate investment companies, ie companies that have 30-50% shares in other companies (equity method). I used P/BV for comparable companies. Is DCF possible?

I'm guessing you would just forecast the FCF for the companies, and for an investment company I would say in terms of expected dividends to be received.
Anybody with more knowledge on the subject will probably steer you in a more clear direction though.
