How do IB Analysts learn about Accounting, Finance and Modelling?

I've read that essentially all IB analysts spend their time working and there isn't a structured training programme with requirements to study like with other grad schemes such as Big 4 Audit where you're required to study for the CPA / ACA.

So how do Analysts actually pick up this knowledge? Is it all on the job learning?
