How long are these emails you're sending that you can't spell check them thoroughly and regularly send misspelled emails...? I sometimes read my emails backwards to check for mistakes, you could do that.

Also check your "rules" and "words added to dictionary" personally I have no problems with the Outlook spell checker so maybe yours just needs a reset. But most banks are not going to allow you to 1. download an extension for this or 2. copy and paste your emails into an internet spell checker, so I think you may be stuck with Outlook.

Also last tip but I've found if I exit the email on Outlook and save it as a draft, and then go back to it, it will check it all more thoroughly. maybe try that

Hey thanks a lot for these tips! I think you may be right - was surprised when I heard recommendations for Grammarly as they are simply not allowed at most banks.

I think I’ll try the draft thing and reading backwards - hopefully that helps.

The emails where I make mistakes are usually call notes which go to the rest of the group (or client…) which is incredibly embarrassing. My call notes are a few hundred words and sometimes don’t get caught by spellchecker because I use words which both exist and are spelt correctly but just have totally different meanings.

Usually I print out my ppt pages so that catches them, but I can’t exactly do that for every email… or should I? Might look a bit silly too.

Is there anything else I can do? Is QuillBot definitely a no go?

Got it, yeah that would be a long email so fair enough. I would not use any third-party apps... QuillBot is a variation of ChatGPT which most (all?) banks have banned, they just can't keep track of every single AI bot on the internet to block the domain. Even looking at QuillBot's ToS, they fully admit to using and tracking your data to improve their computer model. Huge no-no for banking.

Have you tried pasting it into Word? I feel like that spell checker is pretty thorough for "you used the wrong form of this word".

If all else fails, that might be worth taking 5 min to print as well and check yourself. Also sounds obvious but it might be a good habit to try to write more slowly (or rewrite/condense and clarify the notes once you're off the call) to start avoiding this in general.

F7 you mean? It doesn’t catch errors where you use words that are spelt correctly but have totally different meanings though. Nor does it catch wrongly-hyphenated words (such as in this sentence).
