how do you guys deal with a "who cares" attitude?
I don't actually work in IB but feel like this is super relevant for this forum. Do any of you guys have a "who cares" mindset and how do you deal with it? For example, I work on a weekly task that I send out to the ceo and I am almost positive my CEO does not actually look at it. As a result, my brain is always like "who cares"? Like even if my numbers are slightly off, who gives a fuck, no one is looking at it. I also have no desire to improve the process because no one is looking at it.
Of course no one cares. We click clack on keyboard creating imaginary computer files and emails that add no real value to the world.
We get paid good $ to do it, but our work doesn’t matter lol. Doesn’t answer your question but it is what it is.
i mean, but its just hard for me to "go the extra step" in my work to get promoted when i feel like its so dumb lol
Never change that mindset. Let it drive you until you find what matters to you. Good luck
Sounds like you have a sense for prioritisation. Keep that mindset.
I feel you my man, I feel you. Try finding things you actually give a shit about, and then pursue those.
What you do when no one is looking is your true character.

The fact that you assume something is wrong with having a “who cares” attitude is the problem. Work hard on stuff that actually matters and slack on what doesn’t. That’s how you survive the job
Amen.
This. If you have this mindset for things that matter as well i would say its a problem, but if you only do this for menial tasks then id say you have a good sense of prioritization
