I have been working in the Valuations & Modelling team for a Big 4 company for the past 18 months, and now I want to lateral to M&A at a BB or EB. I am going to start applying to vacancies soon.
To those of you who have lateral once or several times, I am curious to know what excuse did you use to skip work and attend interviews?
Did you spend holiday days? Did you take a day off for personal reasons? Did you lied to your supervisors and colleagues?
This isn't exactly what you're looking for, but I know a kid who recruited for Megafund PE full time during his banking SA stint during undergrad after junior year, and he said that literally him and virtually everyone else who was recruiting full time with him had called in sick to their banking internships to come to the PE interviews. So yes, people lie about it
