How do you learn to format models?
I get how modeling works, revenue projecting, etc, but I still don't really understand how to make the actual model, like formatting and stuff like that. Every model I've made so far has just been plugging assumptions into an existing template. Would appreciate any help. Thanks.
It depends on the bank. My bank would always create horizontal models (i.e. a different page for the DCF, a different page for the IS, etc.). In corp dev, I have done the same. Most banks will also have templates or at least a general guideline of how models should look like.
Yeah, I know and understand that, but I'm also doing recruiting for hedge funds/ private equity so I'd appreciate the knowledge of how to create a model from scratch.
