How does post-ib credit recruiting even work?

Feel like there are a lot of resources out there on pe, but curious what the timeline looks like for credit (l/s, opportunistic, distressed, pc, etc.).

I’m starting as an an1 at a reasonably well respected levfin group. What does the timeline look like for recruiting with hedge funds and big asset managers (eg ares, oak tree, blue owl, etc.)? Is it similar to oncycle pe, where you have to start interviewing before you hit the desk?

Sorry, Ik this post is all over the place!
