How good is JPM’s internal mobility

I go to a target/semi target in the south. I am going to intern for JPM Middle Market Banking & Specialized Industries SA in NYC. I know trying to lateral internally to IB is hard after my SA. But how hard would it be if I am trying lateral internally within the commercial bank, like Middle Market Banking SA to Corporate client banking FT. All insights appreciated. Thanks.

It happens. If you look on LinkedIn you can probably find more than a few people that have gone from MMBSI -> IB or (more easily) -> CCBSI. This does not usually happen from SA -> Analyst, unless you interned as a sophomore/are diversity etc. Usually if you push hard, perform well, have good relationships with your managers, and network effectively you will have a shot. That said you will start back as A1 after having done 2 yrs as an analyst already, which turns some people off (note this is for the IB transfer, I’m not sure what happens when staying within the CB).
