Am I under a certain time pressure to lateral once I start FT? Like if I don’t get an offer within my first analyst year, can I get an offer to lateral my Second year? What if I get promoted to associate?
No time pressure if you plan to stay in IB. You can't really lateral until 8-10 months, no one will take a brand new analyst, they want experienced hires.
A lot of people lateral for PE opportunities which will become less after you hit ASO (many laterals have to do a 3rd analyst year anyway). But if you plan to stay, I'd say all the way up to VP you have a lot of optionality on moving around
