How is Compliance with Investing in Real Estate and Startups?
I’m considering investing in some crowdfunded equity and potentially single family residential, smaller multi family or syndications. How have people found compliance to be about this? Almost all guidance at my firm is geared towards outside brokerage accounts holding public equities, mutual funds or ETFs. I know a few colleagues have rentals either traditional SFR or vacation homes that they mostly rent out, which the firm I’m at seems fine. I was wondering if anyone had any color. Also how much of a pain does it make taxes?

Haven’t specifically gone through this in a couple years but my bank just wanted stuff disclosed and didn’t ask any questions. It’s more for Finra / making sure no conflicts of interest
That’s what I figured, our compliance people are pretty helpful and given that I’m in munis I doubt it raises any conflicts, I’m assuming it’s like stocks where they have to approve each transaction.
