I've heard on occasion from some senior bankers that the whole combined Corporate + Investment Banking edge (i.e. JP/Citi/BAML) will be increasingly important for snagging deals in the future (have heard this especially from bankers FROM those banks...)
Also, Citigroup's strength in the league tables this year is at least somewhat attributed to this factor according to the article below (also mentions JP in similar light).

What do some of you more insightful/experienced monkeys think? How legit/BS is this argument?
I can't read the link bc of a paywall but this is part of their sales pitch and has been for a while. It's not like any of those banks recently became corporate and investment banks, so I guess I would ask why there's an argument that it'll be increasingly important now as opposed to 5 or 10 years ago. But if you're interviewing, parrot that line.
