How many total MDs do most BBs have?
Title. For example, how many IBD Managing Directors are there at Morgan Stanley across all groups? If they take like 150 analysts a year, that means there's like 300 analysts at any given time, so maybe 50 MDs? Is that too high? Too low? Interested in anyone who has actual info or a better estimation approach than me.
Around 1.5x analyst to MD ratio from what I've seen
interesting. How does that work if most analysts leave? I know MBA associates come in, but does that mean that most associates go on to become MDs? Everyone on this board is always saying how not everyone will make it to MD, but it seems like it'd be pretty easy statistically given that ratio
I have the MD to analyst ratio get as low as .5x to as high as 2x. When it dips lower usually The bank is a little heavy on associates and VP's and when it get higher the bank is generally leaner on middle staff. Teams are always changing and it is hard to peg a specific ratio. Careers are also not linear and with turnover the path to MD get much tougher.
goldman is 480 i believe
