How Much Do You Tip for Uber / Lyft / Taxis?

Like most bankers, I can use a corporate credit card to take an Uber or a Lyft to go home when working late.  I am curious how much you other bankers tip the drivers afterwards.  We are not paying with our money, so we can be rather generous.  Am I an asshole for never tipping more than $5?

This is for bankers in the U.S. - I am unfamiliar with tipping practices in other countries.

If you are tipping on a corporate card tip as much as you reasonably can. If it’s your personal card do whatever you want. I only tip for exceptional service if it’s my own card then I will do between 10-20%.

If I’m on my personal I’ll always do either 15-20% depending on service quality. Don’t need to get in a moral debate about tipping but at the end of the day these drivers make very little money to provide me an essential service, and the $5 is going to mean a lot more to them than to me.

On corporate card, why doesn’t everyone tip as much as possible? I’ll usually just do the 25% option on Uber or whatever the highest option they give is - on a short ride it’s just $5 flat. Never understood why anyone is stingy on a corporate card…

Smartass A2D inbound: I tip my gas pump 0% since it already charges me $3.70 a gallon for twenty gallons of 93 Octane. And that's before I have to tip-share with the back of house to the insurance company and maintenance.

For realsies, if I've had too much fun at the bar and need an Uber (just because I pour that much money into the car and sometimes into my stomach doesn't mean I want to recklessly ruin either one), if it's a pleasant trip, at least 15% or up to 20%. Side note: even if it's garbage service, I still tap five stars because I know they rate you back too and if I'm at the point I need an Uber to get home safely I kinda want to make sure I'm not going to be blackballed.
