How much does your rising sophomore internship really matter for recruiting?

I'm going to be a rising sophomore this summer at Stern/Ross/UVA and weighing the pros and cons of two internship options:

1. A full-time, paid internship at a LMM PE firm. I currently have a low GPA, so I'll be taking summer classes to boost it to a 3.6.
2. A part-time, unpaid internship at an IB boutique. With this I'll have a lot more free time and will use it to take an extra class, boosting my GPA to a 3.7.

Would that boost from a 3.6-3.7 in my GPA, plus the extra time for interview prep and networking be worth the loss in substance in my internship? My understanding is many people don't take your rising sophomore internships seriously anyway. I'd appreciate any opinions.
