The reason they asked you that is because DB has traditionally been (and still is) a commercial bank. As was mentioned above, they broke into IBD through BT Alex Brown, and I guess tried to utilize those relationships as well as lending relationships to foster a new business unit.

Part of the firm's "story" is that they're a relatively recent entrant into BB IBD in the US.
