How to break into Richmond, VA from London?

How the hell do I do this??

I'm in a non-M&A IB team, think Secondaries/Fundraising/Private Capital.

have been recently thinking about Richmond IB scene and have no idea how to even approach it.

emailed a coupla MDs at a top Richmond shop - they replied, but don't sponsor visas. Heard EVR have just opened an office there.

any advice??

Not sure to be honest…

I just don’t like NY and the culture it preaches. Fundamentally disagree with the way of life in LA and SF (+MP). TX is too hot and I read one too many articles about analysts and associates passing away because of the job.

Richmond and Charlotte seem like really nice places. I don’t mind a slightly lower salary in a tradeoff for a better (for myself) city. Plus COL is relatively lower in Richmond.
