How to frame no RO for recruiting to grad roles
For context I was placed in a capital markets team but wanted to do some sort of M&A/Coverage which I communicated in feedback sessions and was the main driver of no RO (appreciate in hindsight I should have just played the game). Work product feedback was good other than attention to detail at the halfway point which was later resolved.
Keep getting asked about RO in interviews and explain it as above which is seen as a red flag. How should i frame this going forwards?
What kind of firm are we discussing here: BB or MM?
For full disclosure I'm also wrapping up my internship but where I work, declaring an interest in another division isn't going to kill the offer, maybe not have communicated what you said unless at the end if you said "if you don't have headcount, happy to do coverage or M&A as long as I can stay connected to firm"
MM. My feedback on the RO call was that I wanted to explore other areas to which I did mention would like to do coverage or M&A should but was told that it was a group specific RO. The only negative piece brought to light was the attention to detail.
Thanks for the reply
