How to I control ego

How do i control it. I essentially made it from nothing and everyone including my parents doubted me. I look at my cousins who are privileged and think I'm way better than them, the kid my parents compared me because he’s studying engineering and still has no job, I think I am better than him. Soo like I know ego can lead to self destruction and etc how do I stop, because life essentially has been a downhill until I made it to “IB” ^ not an intern this threadTerms & Conditions.

First of all, why are you comparing yourself to others? Only compare your current self to your self from the day before, the week before. Easier to say than done but that should be the goal. Second, if you must compare, than compare to those who are better than you, money, status, popularity, personality, looks, etc, you will quickly realize you're a nobody. Lastly, even for people who you think are no better than you, there's most certainly that they have some personal qualities, life style/ family/ friends etc better than your or which you don't have. So moral of the story, only compare others to yourself as a motivation to push yourself to a better version of yourself.
