How to list Concentration (Major?) GPA

At a B-school where instead of majors, we have "concentrations". My cumulative gpa is around a 3.6 and my concentration gpa is a 3.8. Can I list the concentration gpa instead of the cumulative and submit that to applications portals or am I only allowed to put it on my resume? It's not calculated by the school, just based on concentration requirements. Should I list both cumulative and concentration gpa or is just listing the concentration gpa okay?

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here's what you need to know:

  1. Listing Concentration GPA: If your school does not officially calculate or recognize the concentration GPA, you should be cautious about listing it as your primary GPA on application portals. Misrepresenting or omitting your cumulative GPA could raise red flags if discovered.

  2. Resume vs. Application Portals: On your resume, you can include both your cumulative GPA and your concentration GPA. For example:

    • Cumulative GPA: 3.6
    • Concentration GPA: 3.8

This approach provides transparency and highlights your stronger performance in your concentration.

  3. Application Portals: Most application portals specifically ask for your cumulative GPA. In such cases, you should list your cumulative GPA (3.6). If there's an option to provide additional context, you can mention your concentration GPA there.

  4. Best Practice: To avoid any perception of dishonesty, always prioritize transparency. Listing both GPAs on your resume or providing an explanation in application portals ensures clarity and demonstrates integrity.

If you're unsure about specific application requirements, consider reaching out to the admissions office for clarification.
