How to move into another group at current bank? (where staffing can be political)

I've been on the desk over a year and have only had staffings within one sub-vertical of my broader industry group.

Ultimately I know it's not what I want to do long term and want to move onto the adjacent deals/MD pipelines at my firm. At this point I'm the analyst for "x". Any advice for someone looking to navigate this internally and thoughts as to whether or not I'm being overly anxious that I'm not getting reps in the verticals I want to learn?

Anyone have experience lateraling into a specialized group past the A2 mark?

Thanks
