how will midterm results impact investment banking?
How do you guys think the recent midterm election results will impact investment banking over the next couple of years?
Curious whether the shift in control of Congress could affect M&A activity, IPOs, or the broader dealmaking environment. Do you think this will be a net positive or negative for deal flow?
Also curious to hear perspectives of senior vs junior monkeys and where people sit
literally zero impact

This could be an absolute bloodbath for investment banking. Increased regulatory scrutiny, political gridlock, and uncertainty around fiscal policy could bring M&A activity to a screeching halt, with sponsors sitting on the sidelines and IPO pipelines drying up. Wouldn't be surprised if we see mayhem with hiring freezes, layoffs, and banks fighting over whatever deal flow is left
After the smoke settles we'll probably see ubs as the new gs
One area I’d keep an eye on is renewable energy tax equity financing. A lot of solar and storage projects rely on selling tax credits to make the economics work. could see some tailwinds coming soon
