Hypothetical Question

Lets say I wanted to open an Investment bank what destination would be the best .
Would it be Hong Kong ? Singapore ? Cayman Islands ?

My first choice would be Hong Kong but since China has plans to re absorb it completely by 2020 it can prove to be a place of High political risk .

Any thoughts.

Thanks

Where you have the most C-Level executive and political connections. No connections > no deal flows > no money for you.

Barring some truly dramatic events, China will NEVER re-absorb HK. The Chinese leadership understands the benefits and importane of having a free and open gateway into China.

Furthermore, many Chinese princelings run companies based out of HK and have offshore accounts set up there. They are deriving way too many benefits from the status quo to change it. They have little to gain by absorbing HK, which would just turn it into another Shanghai.

Too late for second-guessing Too late to go back to sleep.
