I Don't want to be 'promoted'

hey ladies,

i left after 1.5 yrs at a bb ibd and im currently working in a completely diff industry 9-5 role, for half the pay. yes ladies, half.

since i had so much free time, i started an online side business which recently exceeded my bb base salary on a per month basis.

now im about 6 months into this new role i have been offered a promotion. the thing is that i do not want more responsibility because i want more time to work on my online business. taking up this new role means that i have to stay later in the office serving clients on the other side of the timezone.

they didnt mention that there was a salary boost tho.

how do i go about saying no but not letting the firm down?

EDIT: MY SIDE BUSINESS DOES NOT MAKE 70K/MONTH its around 5K/MONTH

TheKingIf your online side business actually makes $70K per month, quit your job. What's even the point of being there. Are you trolling?

not a troll. i think i wasnt clear enough.. makes about 5k+ a month. 70/12 = 5+

UFOinsiderWhat is the growth potential for your online business?

not too much maybe 150k/yr by the 3rd year or so

How about long term? If you're going to make more money in the long term with the startup, just focus on that....if not, keep your day job and take the promotion. The good part is that you can probably buy some time and just tell them that you would like to be promoted but don't feel you are ready.
Get busy living

Just tell them that you don't feel comfortable at this point with the increased responsibility. They will appreciate your honesty. No one wants to promote someone and see them fail.

Do you really need all the extra time to focus on your online side business? If not, outsource it like Going Concern said and take the promotion. Your current job will provide you with tremendous amount of networking/career opportunity unlike your online side job.
