I got a top IB SA offer thanks to WSO

So, I recently accepted a Summer 2021 offer from an IB group that basically kills it in the industry it operates in. But this wouldn't have been possible had it not been for WSO and I am extremely grateful for it.

Background: I am a non-target, non-diversity student. have been at the recruiting grind for the better part of the year. Got interviews across the board (including super days at a BB and an EB) but for some reason or the other, couldn't convert them. Kept my head down and still continued to network (probably ended up talking to over 85 different people). Diligently kept up with WSO to see what's happening where since I had almost zero OCR.

So, coming to the story about how I landed this internship, I applied to this particular firm (my uni had placed a couple of people here over the past 7-8 years so my career center sent in a resume book) but didn't get a phone screen, even though people who I thought were less qualified got the phone screen. I thought it was basically game over for me for this firm. So, I moved on to other firms and trying to land something else.

This is where WSO enters the picture. I saw one comment buried under other comments that said that this firm had paused hiring because of COVID. I thought this might be my chance, and started networking at this firm again thinking that because of the hiring freeze, I should be able to enter the process once it opens up later. So, killed it in the networking calls but didn't hear from the firm for almost 4-6 months. At this point, I had almost given up on IB recruiting for the year, when I heard from the firm regarding a phone screen, and within a week had an offer in my hand (they had only one spot they were recruiting for and I got that). Thus, I ended my recruiting process and accepted the offer.

But none of this would have happened had I not read WSO that fruitful day. So, I am extremely grateful for this website and would be happy to answer any questions regarding the process or anything else.

Patrick Curtis, you have made a great website, keep up the good work!
