I mistakenly addressed someone "she" instead of "he" in Networking Email
While networking with people at my top-choice bank, one person kindly referred me to another banker. In my email to the second person, I wrote that the referrer “recommended I reach out to you,” but accidentally referred to the referrer as “she.”
I know someone at school with the exact same name who is a woman, so I think I subconsciously mixed them up while typing on my phone. I realized the mistake about three hours after sending the email because something felt off.
How bad is this? Should I send a quick correction or would that only draw more attention to it?
Wait to follow up - give it a few days and fix it when you follow up. Wouldn’t explicitly address it. TBH dude they’re getting 100s of emails a week - they’re going to forget.
Thanks will do! Cant believe i made that kind of mistake...
just tell the analyst you were testing their commitment to fluid pronouns and copy HR - boom, you’re in
