IB Full Time Analyst Placement 2020 ** Urgent Question
After being placed in a group, if you are not happy, can you ask HR to be switched to the one you prefer (before starting FT)?
Can you ask the MD in the group to help, who said they wanted you to return, but HR had to fill business needs and was under the impression you wanted to switch groups?
Thank you.
In my experience, there is nothing you can do during your first year. Many analysts move either their 2nd or 3rd year. I've seen an underperforming associate move to a less technical group during their 1st year. They would have been fired if they were to continue in my group.
Which groups in an investment bank are more technical? I'm guessing FIG? Would love to hear you expand
LevFin is p technical as well
Assuming you’re set to begin in the coming months, I would strongly advise against reaching out. Your future employer has already accounted for your current placement in forecasting business performance and any change will be a matter of pure inconvenience for HR and your current group’s staffer. Additionally, you may run the risk of being labeled “needy” and/or “tone deaf” in making a last minute request during a pandemic/recession. Others may disagree, of course.
I'm just confused that if my old group wanted me to return and gave me high reviews, HR put me in another group I don't want to be in, why wouldn't my other group be able to take me back?
For a variety of reasons none of which you are privy to at the moment. I wish I could be of more help.
Why do people delete their questions? It's so disingenuous to ask others for help than as soon as you get an answer to delete your topic so others can't use the same information.
Yeah, posts should be made so that text can only be added to them, not removed without unless a moderator approves it.
