IB SA recruiting in SF vs NYC

Is SA recruiting easier in SF than it is in NYC? I know for banks like Evercore and GS you can do your junior summer in SF and then jump to NYC full-time. Would it be smarter to just recruit for the SF offices to land a solid internship and then switch to NYC later? I also go to school on the west coast which may help with SF recruiting somewhat.
