IB salaries in UK
What salaries is an MBA grad looking at after graduating from universities such as LBS, LSE, Cambridge & Oxford as an IB analyst/associate? Are the salaries similar for ones graduating from Warwick, Cass, Imperial, MBS too or are they a lot different or does one not even land a job at IB firms upon graduating from the latter ones? Insights.
are MBA’s even common in Europe lol?
Didn't know that since I am based in the US. Do you think Masters in Finance would be a better option to break in?
To clarify for the rest of this thread.
MBAs are not common in Europe. Hardly see anyone with them.
If a bank does take MBAs, they'll come in at ~Associate level. The salaries should match that on Arkesden report but as I said, very rare.
Doing a pre-experience MFin (e.g. LSE MFin), will land you with the same starting role as anyone exiting undergrad i.e. Analyst 1. Again, salaries should match the report.
Idk what a post-experience MFin will do, and by post-exp I mean 3+ YOE, but again, fairly rare.
IB salaries tend to be the same for everyone (base salary £50k for A1, £55k A2 etc), have a look at the Arkesden comp report for details
Don't MBA grads end up in associate positions?
Yes but Associate programmes aren't as common as in the US - I remember a couple of MBA grads lumped together in my Analyst AC once. Salaries are standardised at 80/90
At my bank we put the MBA grads in the analyst pool - they're same tier in terms of knowledge and helpfulness. It's very rare we get anyone with an MBA though because they just aren't a thing over here.
