IB summer to MF out of undergrad

So, I saw a lot of people do IB summer to MF PE out of undergrad. How does this work?

I know how on cycle works for analyst IB to associate PE, but what is the recruiting process for those trying to go into BX KKR Silver Lake and Apollo out of undergrad?

For reference my school does send a few to MF PE a year but the vast majority do BB/EB for 2 years.

these firms have ntw events for students and ik for another MF, after junior summer they filter for the top candidates at top banks, as well as sending their applications to only target schools

anecdotally the ppl I know both interned at Evercore

also BX has summer analyst programs and Apollo AFAIK has them but not for investing (I interviewed for their capital solutions team)

Networked with a guy who did this. He had a return offer from a top bank and just thought "why not apply" and got the offer. Graduated top of his class from HYPSW though

Yeah I know someone from a similar situation, but granted the standards for getting into college back then was not as absurd as they are today

The person I'm talking about is still an analyst so it was pretty recent lol
