I am working in an investment bank, and I would love to eventually play for Real Madrid beside Hazard. Anybody know if this is possible, or do I have to go to b-school first? Will IB pigeonhole me?

I think you’d have a good shot at a lower-tier MM club (think Sevilla, Everton, Leicester) but you’ll have to network hard for on-cycle tryouts if you want any of the megaclubs (think Real Madrid, Juventus, PSG).
Is PSG considered a prestigious BB? I thought they just use their balance sheet to get deals but no one actually wants to be there
PSG is more like the Softbank Vision Fund, lots of money, but poorly managed, getting terrible results for the amount invested and likely won't be around much longer
Think you'd have to be in a top group like GS TMT/FIG or PJT RX to not get pigeonholed - maybe try looking at Atletico or one of the middle-market teams like Villarreal.
There’s also this shitty low-tier club called Liverpool or something OP might want to look into. Haven’t gotten any big domestic engagements in decades, but heard the culture and teamwork is great (something about never walking alone)

The industry you’re trying to lateral into has nothing to do with hard skills and knowledge. You know how the legends like Ronaldo, Alex Morgan, and Alex Hunter get to success? Connections. They were just lucky to be born into a family that knew a few people to get them on the roster. That’s why some of the best soccer players from South America and India CONSISTENTLY get overlooked because the system is so rigged and fucked.
You want to get in? Stop practicing onthe field and start networking like hell. If you can’t get in touch with the coaches work through connecting with the lower levels on LinkedIn. From there, it’s all show. Good luck

He was in audit at PWC before moving to IB at JPM where he sold Man U to the glazers.
This is actually a career path I have looked at, as realistically these businesses (soccer clubs) are sub $500m revenue companies and therefore not impossible to become CEO of

Ib probably will. Usually prospect players who end up in RM start playing professionally around 12-15 years old. I'd say the boat has passed but you should still follow your dream without burning your IB bridges.
