ICADE for London IB
Hi everyone,
I’m considering studying at ICADE in Madrid and I’m interested in pursuing a career in investment banking in London afterwards.
How well regarded is ICADE among London investment banks? Is the university well known or respected by recruiters, particularly for investment banking roles? Would graduating from ICADE put me at a disadvantage compared with candidates from universities such as LSE, Imperial, UCL, Warwick, etc.?
I’d especially appreciate insights from anyone working in IB in London or who has experience recruiting candidates from Spain.
Thanks!
Is ICADE the same as Comillas? If yes, this is where most of the Spanish bankers in London i know went to
That said, Spanish seems to be a prerequisite — every Comillas banker I know speaks it. Recruiters seem to go to Comillas first for Spanish speakers, but I’m not sure the uni alone is enough if you don’t have the language
Yes, ICADE is part of Comillas. I’m Spanish, so speaking Spanish wouldn’t be an issue for me.
What I’m mainly trying to understand is how well ICADE/Comillas is regarded by London IB recruiters in general. Would you say it’s a recognised target/semi-target for London investment banking, particularly for Spanish candidates? Or is the Spanish-speaking advantage basically the main reason recruiters look at Comillas?
I’m considering ICADE with the goal of eventually breaking into IB in London, so I’d be interested to know how realistic that path is and how much the university name itself helps.
