im fucked

didn't get a return offer this summer cuz my bank made a lot of cuts (not performance related). been grinding with FT recruiting for the past 2 weeks since then but haven't had much luck. Feels like everywhere I look is either not hiring or they have like 1 spot that I have to compete for against 500 kids who have been prepping for the past year. Never planned on re-recruiting so didn't network during my internship and let my technicals slip and now with most processes already in full swing I feel like im so far behind and fighting a losing battle. I know there's gotta be others in the same spot as me but haven't really seen much here about it.

So fellow interns with no return offers, how we feeling? have you been getting interviews? has anyone heard of any banks that are recruiting later in the fall? could really use some solidarity rn

Feel you brother in the same position. Surprised there's not more posts of this. Non target non diversity and got cut at BB SA mainly due to the group not being able to bring in much revenue. I have gotten interviews from mostly cold applying. Prolly have gotten 4 banking interviews so far as well as a couple in corp dev. Did 2 superdays this week one at an EB and another at a different boutique. Happy to chat in PM if you want as we grind through this. Def sucks but in this market I'm willing to take anything I get. I refuse to be an unemployed loser

Hey man, was in a similar situation, locked in my CB internship at a foreign bank December of last year, with a return offer for 2023.

IB is definitely few and far between, worth networking for a position or two you think may be doable (needs to be posted within the last few days).

S&T, ER, and CB positions in MM/foreign banks may still be recruiting. Off-cycle recruiting is an opportunity as well. It’s hell right now but if you keep grinding something that’s worth your time will pop up.

At this point focus on quality of application (including multiple networking contacts, your resume’s applicability to the role, any firms your school may have a pipeline to).

At this point - I will work any location as long as the name is reputable. Do you have more information that you could PM me with?
