In IB but not really interested in business/finance - what to do?
Currently 1st-year analyst in a coverage team at a mid-tier BB.
Decided to do banking because I did not know what else to do while in college. Have never been super interested in business / finance – I'm not bad at my job or have trouble understanding stuff, just don't think I’m actually interested or give a shit whether people love me at work / a deal goes through or not.
Also really hate the hours – I personally care a lot about fitness / health / social life, and it's hard for me that I have to work until post-midnight every night.
For the reasons above, I'm not really interested in exiting to PE. Thought Growth / Corp Dev / Strategic Finance might make sense due to less hours / more exciting work, but again, I just don't think I have any real interest in business in general…
Would really appreciate any input in terms of how I can figure out what to do next. Any advice that could help me counter the constant dread would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
same ..
Growth = PE = same shitty hours
At an EB RX group and also don't really like finance that much... Don't know what I would actually like though.
