Inc. MSc Finance - ways forward

Hello!

I am looking for advice on how to break into London IB and would be grateful for all takes.

My goal is to do IB in London, and I am somewhat uncertain of what is best to go for as an incoming 1-year graduate student.

Short summary of my background FYI:

- Will do the MSc Finance at LSE

- From the Nordics, did my BSc at regional target

- Internships at a regional sizable and reputable IB, a small corp fin boutique, a unicorn, and misc part-time jobs

- ~Zero personal connections

Should I go for summer internships or FT? How can I prepare best (I am free this Aug)? Does anyone have insight particularly into how London graduate students, or LSE for that matter, (best) recruit?

Grateful for your thoughts!

As previous said, SA and OC will be your way in. I don’t think you’ll struggle to get interviews at all. FT may be a bit too difficult simply because you don’t have UK SA experience but yeahh, good luck!

Quick aside to this for OP, the vast majority of people on the programme tend to overestimate its ability to generate interviews cold. You should network with other Nordics in the major banks, after that you can expect maybe 5-8 first round interviews from the top 20 or so firms assuming the networking went well (bank distribution will probably be pretty random).
