Incoming JPM IB An1 — Questions

Hey everyone,

I just finished up my internship with JPM a couple weeks ago and am very happy to be returning next year as a 2027 full-time analyst. That said, I had a couple questions, some that I’d prefer to ask anonymously. Hoping to hear some insight from current/former JPM investment bankers:

1) How is on-cycle going to work, now that JPM will fire analysts who accept future-dated offers within 18 months? To be clear, I’m not set on private equity—or any exit—I want to give banking a full try, but I also want to keep my options open in case I really want to leave. Optionality is one of the things that drew me to banking.

2) Tech stipend: JPM is a BYOD firm, which doesn’t really matter in the office, but if I’m ever working from home on weekends, I’ll definitely need a ThinkPad or something (use a Mac for my personal and school stuff—VDI on MacBook sucks, even on my new Pro). Ik there use to be a tech reimbursement, but have heard this no longer exists—is that true?

3) Would love to stay in touch with the analysts I worked with—we’ve talked about grabbing drinks through the school year (I go to school in the same city I’ll be working in). That said, is new networking w/ those I haven’t met a good idea—or should I just save that for when we start?

Current analyst here

1. It’s a don’t ask, don’t tell policy. Nobody has gotten fired for recruiting but people have signed offers. Just try to be subtle about it
2. Tech stipend is $1,500, haven’t heard anything about it going away
3. Getting coffee with people you interacted with would be fine. Networking with new people would be strange

Tech stipend is gone. They told us this in NYC training. new 2026 AN1s are pissed.
