Indiana Uni (kelley) - Bloomington for undergrad
Prestige and the opportunities to get into analyst positions. is it considered a target? alumni network strength? how does it rate compared to Mich, uva, unc etc?
thanks for the input

according to a current student, you'll regret being a finance major once you graduate
i know they have a five year undergrad/mba program that is pretty heavily recruited by the big4 and some of the BBs for what its worth, there was a kelly undergrad resume book floating around in a thread and honestly, the resumes didnt look all that impressive on the whole
I completely agree. I remember perusing the resume book... there was a 'Blockbuster Sales Associate' just as an example. One guy responded that "Well, I'll work at Blockbuster, it proves I can work"... I just thought, rah rah rah...go check out the Wharton resume book and see your competition.
I'd rank
UVA, UMich, UNC ... Then Kelley
No offense to any current students or alums, it's just my perception.
Let me rearrange that for you BSD, it's:
UMich, UNC, UVA, Kelley
The M&A group at UBS had three Indiana undergrads (Kelley) over the past 3 years. Placement as follows:
2 - Carlyle (One is still at UBS, he accepted his offer and will be joining next summer) 1 - Apax
From what I understand, get in with the right crowd there and getting interviews at BB's is not that unrealistic.
There's an investment banking workshop or something like that, most of those kids land BB internships/jobs.
My take on Kelly (I receive a masters in accounting there - classes, recruitng, etc.. with the 5 year undergrad/mba program) is as follows:
If you do the 5 year program and want to go Big 4 accounting you are a LOCK. I don't know of anyone who wanted to work Big 4 that didn't get an offer. I (admittedly) was one of the weaker candidates and I got offers from 3 of the 4 - 2 in chicago, 1 NY.
It IS possible to go BB as an analyst but you really need to work at it. I know for sure of guys going to BS, JPM and I think UBS. Also, I didn't associate too much with the IB workshop crowd, so I'm sure there were more.
Easiest route from Kelley - do a Big 4 internship (maybe 2) then get into their transaction services group.
