Industrial engineering major at a non-target. Path to IB?
I’m an incoming freshman majoring in Industrial Engineering at a top 40 (top 10 in engineering) university with a strong engineering program, but not a traditional IB target.
I chose IE because I genuinely like STEM, but I’ve recently become interested in investment banking and want to know how realistic the path is from IE at a non-target/semi-target.
Main questions:
- Is IB realistic from Industrial Engineering at a non-target/semi-target?
- How much does engineering GPA matter for IB recruiting?
- How should I position IE when networking?
- How should I prepare as a freshman and on coming from a non finance background?
I’m learning accounting, financial statements, valuation basics, Excel, and trying to network early.
Will appreciate all the advices
