Insight on Drake Star Partners

Seems the firm has a strong presence in an wide array of interesting verticals in technology and media as well as global offices. They hadn't been on my radar until a buddy of mine mentioned them and now I'm curious to learn more. Does anyone have any insight on the culture, comp, and general experience as a whole?

Any insight on the recruiting process would be helpful as well (saw on a different post that they had an intern do a 4-hour modeling test...makes me wonder what a modeling test for an AN1-2 would look like). All perspective and guidance it welcomed and appreciated. Cheers!

Involves putting together firm/industry/competitor overviews and reaching out to companies and try to get meetings. Might also involve pitching companies on potential acquisition targets. Basically a lot of high level market work which can be interesting at first but gets old quick and you don’t get any skills.

I would disagree - this is a MM firm that has lean deal teams. The transaction times to close are closer to 5-6 months as opposed to a year or so for deals that are $1B+ in size. Additionally the MM space is always active with deals in the pipeline. I’d also say that the exposure and responsibility that you would likely get as an analyst is significantly more than you would get at a BB where you have little to no exposure to running a process, leading analyzes, and dealing with clients (as an AN1).

Generally this is a large miss conception with MM firms that tend to be smaller and leaner where I would argue that a first year is able to get significantly more experience and learn a lot quicker given exposure and responsibility early on
