Most of them recruit in the fall, so I'd say reach out now and build a rapport. Most of them don't have actual intern programs so you'll have to network your way in. Some of them do and they will tell you. Obviously an internship in PE or a boutique in the winter would help since you would have prior experience. Which firms are you looking at?
