Internal mobility

Associate at a BB. Been in my current seat for about 18 months. Interested in switching from coverage to IG DCM

How best would you approach? Given year end and bonus season is approaching that obviously complicates things a bit. Not sure how my MD & staffer would react if I asked to move teams - they have said in the past they want the team to stay intact.
