Internal Transfer for return offer during internship

I intern in coverage at BB (MS / GS / JPM) and had been working with a few teams across the floor, so I was curious to learn more about their sectors.

I had some coffee chats, asked about eg TMT, Consumer & Retail and the dynamics. One of the teams was very interested in me because of my work and put in a word to the staffer to tell them about me.

Someone on my team (VP level) got very angry and threatened to pull my offer if I network with other teams, despite the fact that we worked on the same deals. Now the other teams are asking why I've not replied to their messages and I don't want to share with them that my offer was potentially being pulled by someone I work for,

I wanted to ask if it's normal to network with other teams to learn more about the sector coverage, and if so, whether the divisional HRs have any issues with me talking to other desks that we work with.

I obviously didn't intend to cause negative feelings with my current desk but it confused me and I've heard both sides ("no you shouldn't network with other desks", "yes you should network with other desks").

Crunch time now as end of week the internship is over, would be great to hear people's thoughts on what to do here because I'm simply lost
